The print

The design is small floral sprigs all over, in the Madhubani idiom, with a figurative elephant panel. It is printed digitally in Bangalore by a specialist print studio, with the same repeat used on every piece, so the colour and pattern arrive as drawn.

The panel

Down the pallu runs a wide vertical panel of repeating elephants, framed by decorative stripes — the one bold passage against an otherwise scattered field of small sprigs. A narrow deep-red band edges the drape and picks up the panel.

The drape

It is soft and smooth with a fluid, lightweight fall — 6.2 to 6.3 metres in total at 44 to 45 inches wide, made up of a 5.5 metre drape and a 0.8 metre (80 cm) running blouse piece continuous with it. The whole thing weighs about 425 grams, so it carries easily through a long day.

Wearing it

Its light weight, matte surface and easy fall suit daytime festive occasions, pooja and daily wear. The off-white ground with a deep-red accent leans warm and celebratory, an easy choice for a daytime function where red carries well.
