Craft & Story
**The Story of Soft Katan Silk** Soft Katan Silk is valued for its smooth texture, rich appearance, and elegant drape. Its luxurious surface provides an ideal foundation for intricate brocade weaving and detailed zari craftsmanship. **The Heritage of Varanasi Weaving** Varanasi is renowned for its rich tradition of silk weaving and elaborate zari craftsmanship. Skilled artisans create intricate motifs directly within the fabric, preserving the detailed character of traditional Banarasi-inspired textiles. **The Beauty of the Designer Pallu** The pallu is the defining feature of Gunghru, bringing together broad panels of traditional vine and paisley motifs in rich golden zari. Golden bead tassels add a decorative finishing detail that enhances the movement of the drape.
Product Description
Gunghru Soft Katan Silk Saree is a richly woven Banarasi-inspired creation featuring an intricate golden zari weave over a deep maroon base. The body showcases a dense geometric lattice jaal enclosing delicate floral motifs, with subtle mirror-like foil embellishments adding a refined shimmer across the weave. A heavy floral zari border frames the saree, while the grand designer pallu brings together broad panels of traditional Banarasi vine and paisley motifs. Golden bead tassels complete the pallu with an elegant finishing touch. Woven by skilled artisan Zaid from Varanasi, this saree combines the luxurious texture of Soft Katan Silk with detailed brocade weaving and statement zari craftsmanship. Complete with a 0.75-meter blouse piece, Gunghru is designed for weddings, festive celebrations, traditional functions, and special occasions where rich craftsmanship takes centre stage.

The Colourway
The deep maroon base creates a rich backdrop for the intricate golden zari work. The strong contrast allows the floral butti, geometric jaal, heavy border, and detailed pallu to stand out while giving the saree its regal character.
The Craft: Brocade Weaving
Brocade weaving creates decorative patterns directly within the fabric through the careful use of additional threads. Gunghru features an elaborate golden zari composition across the body, border, and pallu, with floral, geometric, vine, and paisley motifs woven into the textile rather than simply applied to its surface.
The Design & Drape
The body carries a dense geometric lattice pattern with small floral motifs, creating a richly detailed surface. The heavy floral zari border gives definition to the drape, while the designer pallu becomes the focal point with broad Banarasi vine and paisley panels. Golden bead tassels add movement and complete the ornate finish.
